On this week's episode of the podcast, I had the opportunity to talk with Brian McTernan.
I was excited to do so because Brian's current band, Be Well, released one of my favourite albums of 2020 (so far). He has also worked as a producer, on a number of albums that played a big role in my musical journey. Something that I was quite excited to talk to him about, was his growing up in the DC hardcore scene.
When it came to figuring out what I wanted to share, from my vinyl collection, this week, I took inspiration from Brian's growing up. After all, he grew up in the same scene (a number of years later, mind you) as one of rock's biggest names: Dave Grohl.
I first learned about Grohl's early days in the DC scene, when reading his biography This Is A Call (if you haven't read it, you should). In the early chapters author Paul Brannigan shares a lot of details about the younger Grohl, and his introduction to punk rock.
So, when it came time to record a new episode of Collecting Vinyl, I decided to talk about the Foo Fighters, and the couple of albums I own of theirs, on vinyl.
